Flower You + Me = Friendship

Flower You + Me = Friendship
This is my third card of the day in my card making quest for my Thailand colleagues and this one is for a female colleague who is bringing me the Thailand's snacks.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge - Sketch #168
For this mini card, I am adopting Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge - Sketch #168 as shown above. However, I clockwise turn the sketch to accommodate the sentiment.

I decided to make my signature 3D flower for this card. I stamp flower image three (3) times and colored them in Copic markers. One of them is die cut using the matching die while the other two (2) are trimmed accordingly to the portion I need.
Close-up: The 3D flower
On a yellow card base which has been layered with plaid pattern paper, a craft mini doily die cut is layered as shown in the sketch. Then, the base of the flower that die cut with matching die is attached onto the craft mini doily die cut. Follow by the second and third layer of the flower with dimensional foam.

Close-up: The sentiment
The sentiment is stamped on a tag in which the header of the tag is being trimmed off before attaching onto the card base as in sketch.

Close-up: Shimmer on the flower
As final touch, I add some shimmer onto the flower to make it all shine and nice! Four (4) white gems are also added below the sentiment.

Chalkboard with Stencil Friends Like You Are Far and Few

Chalkboard with Stencil Friends Like You Are Far and Few
My colleague from Thailand is coming to Kuala Lumpur this Saturday for a vacation trip. However, I am regret that I do not have opportunity to meet her in person as my own personal schedule is crashing with her. I must say it is so sweet of her and other colleagues that I work with that they wanted to bring me some Thailand's snacks through her. Thus, I want to prepare some small gifts and cards to return the favor. I will pass them to another department colleague who will be meeting her instead.

I need to make a total of four (4) cards and this is my first. I made mini cards as it will be inserted into a favor organza bag.

For the first card, it is for a male colleague. I decided to use chalkboard technique and pair with stencil masking with distress ink.

Close-up: Chalkboard sentiment
A panel is die cut and the sentiment is stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. It is attached onto the top of a green card base before further smear with white pigment ink to make it more like a chalkboard.

Close-up: The masked design from stencil
Then, on a piece of white card stock, the stencil is layout and masked using distress inks. It is then trimmed according size and attached onto the bottom of green card base.

Finally, a star is die cut from a silver metallic card stock and attach onto the card in between the card stock using foam tape. Four (4) white pearls are also added to the four (4) corners of the frame to make it more decorative.

Dog and Owl Magnetic Bookmarks

Today my daughter's school is having Children Day celebration....yes, instead of Halloween celebration! Well, I do not expect much as first, these kids are in Primary One and Primary Two and second, Halloween is not a popular celebration in Malaysia.

Dog and Owl Magnetic Bookmarks
As it is almost end of the schooling year, I decided to make some bookmarks for my daughter's classmates. The bookmarks' theme will be on friendship as my daughter was a transferal to this school as Primary Two. Thus, she have to start a new friendships with these classmates during earlier of the year. And that 'Thank you for being my friend' sentiment is just nice for her case! ;)

Close-up: Scott dog bookmark
I started the bookmark making since earlier of the week. Apart from making a number of quantities needed, I do not have the extra time luxury. Thus, I making these bookmarks slowly. I started off by stamping the dog images onto white card stock and later colored them using Copic markers. Then, the dog images are die cut using the matching dies. These dog images will be used to decorate the front of the bookmarks.

For the bookmark itself, I decided to make a magnetic bookmark as these classmates are still young and tend to lose things often. Thus, a magnetic bookmark will keep it tidy and steady for them. Several blue card stocks are folded in half of the length of 3.5". Then, they are die cut using the bookmark dies.

Close-up: French Pitbull dog bookmark
After several samples, I decided to use the speech bubbles with the sentiment instead stamping the sentiment directly onto the bookmark. Thus, two (2) different speech bubbles are stamped onto yellow card stock follow by the sentiment. In order to fit the sentiment to the speech bubbles, I cut the sentiment into two (2) parts! It is heartache to do so but to use the normal 'wipe-and-clean' method for repetitive stamping is not wise. Thus, I made the decision to cut the sentiment into two (2) parts! Well, it is actually do not affect the stamp at all when they are put back together again in one line. In fact, it is actually like there is no alteration been done to it! The process of trimming the speech bubbles has taken some times. It is a hint for me to buy the Lawn Fawn A Birdie Told Me Lawn Cuts.

Once everything has been trimmed, it is time put everything together. First, the dog is attached onto the half circle of the bookmark using pop dots. The corresponding speech bubble with sentiment is attached on to the bookmark, on top of the dog as if the dog it saying it. Then, the magnetic is attached to the inside of the bookmark where the dog is attached outside.

Close-up: Owl bookmark
Suddenly, I remember that there are some Malay students in my daughter class! As dog is forbidden by Islam and to respect their religious believe, I use owl to replace the dog for these Malay classmates.

I hope my daughter's classmates like these bookmarks!

I Like Ewe

I Like Ewe
Made this card for my Copic markers buyer's 16 years old daughter who uses Copic markers in her drawing/painting. Just to encourage her on her talent/hobby.

Sketch Saturday Week #328
I decided to use the sketch from Sketch Saturday Week #328 as shown above.

Close-up : The sheep with its wool on glitter powder
The sheep image is stamped on a white circle and colored using Copic markers for its face and legs. For the sheep's wool, I apply a thin layer of glossy accent and sprinkle some glitter powder onto it. It create some texture and also a shinny look! The sentiment is stamped curvy to match the bottom part of the circle. Some faux stitching line is traced along the circle in black ink pen.

Close-up : Vellum border
On a red card base, three (3) different pattern papers are attached onto it as in sketch. Then, a vellum is punched and attached to the bottom of the card base as in sketch. The circle is attached onto the card base as in sketch using pop dots for some dimension.

Dimension : 11.43cm x 8.89 cm or 4.5" x 3.5"

You're Sweet!

You're Sweet!
Finally got my chance to make the card for my partner for the Malaysia Cardmakers Card Swap which is ending on 30 April 2013. Actually I am not very inspired by the themes which delayed my card making.

Sketch Saturday Week #255
But, when I saw the sketch at Sketch Saturday Week #255 (as shown above), it just struck to me that this sketch made a nice shaker card using Fresh Squeezed Stamps Christmas Treats' apothecary jar which I had the idea earlier!

Another reason I want to use the apothecary jar is that my partner is a sweet person (judging from her profile photo in Facebook). The card swap themes are Mother's Day, green and stamping and we are required to use only any two (2) themes. I decided to abandon Mother's Day theme as I believe my partner is not yet a mother and decided to go with my own sweet theme instead.

Close-up : Own made 'pinwheel' sweet pattern paper
I kind of made my own pattern paper as I do not have any pattern paper related to sweet. I randomly stamp the 'pinwheel' sweet in green and orange color onto a yellow card stock. It is not perfect as some of the 'pinwheel' sweet ink smudged but I like how it look.

Close-up : Custom sentiment
Well, I do not own Lawn Fawn Here's the Scoop yet. Thus, I need to custom my own sentiment. Once everything is in place, the yellow card stock is attached onto a green card stock after the corners has been rounded.

Close-up : Fish tail ribbon
A fish tailed multicolored grosgrain ribbon is attached on to the yellow card stock as shown in the sketch.

Close-up : Shaker apothecary jar in standing position
The shaker apothecary jar is the hardest part. At first I thought it is quite easy to do but theory and imagination is sometimes very different from making it real! I have to practice on a number of card stock which gone wasted but it all worth it when I finally got it right and know how to do it!

Close-up : Shaker apothecary jar in laying flat position
The shaker apothecary jar is attached onto the card as shown in the sketch. I wish I put more the beads into the shaker as some of the beads been sticking to the side like permanently! Anyhow, it did turned out to be just like I wanted it to be!

Have A Happy ♥!

Have A Happy ♥!
Make this card to enter some challenges.

Sketch N Stash Challenge 107
I adopt the sketch from Sketch N Stash Challenge 107 as shown above. As the challenge name requirement, I need to use either my newest or neglected stash. I choose to use my neglected stash which is a stamp set I bought sometimes ago but yet to get it inked. Furthermore, I am entering into few challenges that require ♥ in the card which this stamp set is just perfect for it.

Pinspired Challenge #3
As for the color scheme of the card, it comes from Pinspired Challenge #3 photo as shown above.

Close-up : Stamped image
The image is stamped onto a white circle and colored using Copic markers. The 'o' from the 'xoxo' are purposely colored to give some dimension to the image. It is then layered onto a pattern paper.

Close-up : Sentiment
The sentiment is stamped on a red card stock and trimmed accordingly. Both of the image and sentiment are layered onto ♥ embossed white card stock as shown in the sketch.

Close-up : Red scallop ribbon and pearl ♥ ribbon sliders
A red scallop ribbon is attached to the left of the white card stock. Three (3) pearl ♥ ribbon sliders are used.

Close-up : Embellishments
Finally, the whole ♥ embossed white card stock is attached onto a pink card base. Two (2) pearl ♥ are attached to the left and right bottom side of the sentiment. The stamped image is further embellished with small pink gems. Some faux stitching are added to the pattern paper lining as I find it a bit dull. With the faux stitching added, the whole card seem to come together! What a great use of faux stitching!

Bee and Flower

Bee and Flower Card
Made this card for Kim Loh, another art person who uses Copic markers in her arts.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #154
This card layout is inspirational from Tuesday Morning Sketches #154 sketch/challenge as shown above. They added a twist to this sketch as it is a judged challenge. The twist is 'Things with Wings'.

Close-up : Bee and flower
Two (2) flower images are stamped on the white card stock and colored using Copic. One of them is carefully trimmed for the petals and leaves. Then, the bee is stamped at the top of the flower. The edge of the white card stock is distressed before attaching on the a yellow card stock.

Close-up : Layer of petals and leaves
Carefully using dimensional foam, the petals and leaves are attached onto the flower accordingly. Some pearls are added to the centre of the flower to give some dimension. Two (2) yellow gems are added to the bee's antennas. The panel is then attached onto the card base that which has been dimensional attached with pattern paper.

Close-up : Sakura and string loop
At the bottom of the card, as shown in the layout, two (2) punched sakura are secured with eyelets on the most left and right of the flower panel. The pink string is looped and secured accordingly behind the sakura.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 13.97cm or 4" x 5.5"

Cutey Monsters Mini Card

Cutey Monsters Mini Card
I made this card for my newly known friend, Ishmah Aiman whom I assisted her to purchase the Ciao 24 pieces set (IB24) for her manga drawing.

Due to time constraints (thanks to my six years old daughter and three months plus son), I just manage to make a simple mini card to fit into the box of the 24 pieces Copic Ciao that I am going to post to her tomorrow. I keep it as simple as possible but wanted it to look cute too. Thus, I choose the monsters stamps.

Close-up : Tall monster on the left
I stamp the tall monster on the left side of the card so that I can stamp the shorter monster on the right. I purposely arrange them that way as I want the sentiment on top of the shorter monster. The sentiment, "Imagine, Play, Create" is suitable to use here as Aiman has a new set of markers to play with and with her imagination, I wish her could create something nice.

Close-up : Shorter monster on the right and sentiment
The bodies of the monsters, I use my stash of patterned paper and plain cardstock and pop it up using pop dots. The rest of the parts are colored using Copic markers. I finish them with some googly eyes and yellow diamonds for the aerial. I distress the edge of the white cardstock using some blue ink before attaching it on top of a yellow card base.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 10.16cm or 4" x 4"
Type : Vertical fold
Inlay : None
