Wedding Fishes

Wedding Fishes - Front
Made this card for my high school best friend, Teresa Lau and his partner, Eric Chu whose are having the wedding dinner reception tonight. I am so happy that she finally found someone she willing to tie the knot with!

MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge #104 (MFTWSC104)
I adopt the sketch from MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge #104 (MFTWSC104) sketch/challenge as shown above for this card. The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) BE Inspired Challenge #18 photo (as shown below) has prompted me to use their freebie fish to make a wedding wishes card mostly because of the red cozy bed and presents. Since my best friend wedding reception is in December and after Christmas, I just cannot shake of the idea of wedding wishes card once I saw the photo!
The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) BE Inspired Challenge #18

Close-up : The male and female fish
The mirror fish and the original fish are printed on a white card stock and trimmed accordingly. The mirror fish whose is the male fish is colored with orange shaded Copic marker while the original fish whose is the female fish is colored using pink shaded Copic markers. The background is distressed with blue ink to create the water effect. Blue shaded Copic marker is used to highlight the lining of the fishes.

Close-up : Sentiment
Pattern paper with 'double happiness' in Chinese character, '喜喜' and Chinese related images is used as the overlay of the background as shown in the sketch. The round tab punch is used to decorate the upper left corner of the pattern paper. The sentiment is stamped on the gold round tab with red ink. Then, the pattern paper is attached onto a red square card base.

Close-up : The hearts bubbles
The colored fishes is attached onto the patter paper as in the sketch. Some touch-up are added to the fishes such as the hat for the male fish and ribbon for the female fish. Two (2) lines of white pearl hearts are attached to the fishes like they are blowing out bubbles. A big red gem heart is attached to the top of the white pearl hearts to represent two-in-one. The same red gem heart also attached to the sentiment. I thought of make-up for the female fish but the ribbon make it quite impossible. So, I settle to add a googly eye for each of the fish and some silver lining to both of the eyes to make it more interesting.
Close-up : Silver lining on the eyes

Inside the card, a pink inlay is attached with punched heart design border on the right.

Dimension : 13.97cm x 13.97cm or 5.5" x 5.5"

Shopping Time!

Finally gotten my bonus and it is time for shopping for my craft stuffs! I been eyeing, budgeting and planning for the past months on which stuffs I can buy since my budget is limited! I cannot afford to spend all my bonus on craft stuffs as I have other commitment to fulfill. *sigh*

This time, I am venturing into some new brands - Fresh Squeezed StampsPaper Smooches and The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS).

Fresh Squeezed Stamps Christmas Treats
I decided to buy Fresh Squeezed Stamps Christmas Treats as it is a Christmas set which I am a bit lacking of. Secondly, I have great idea on how to use that apothecary jar into something not Christmas related! Thirdly, Fresh Squeezed Stamps offers me a 25% discount on my entire order when I join for their 12 Days of Christmas contest. Thus, it is great bargain that I cannot miss! Sadly I can only manage to get a set of Fresh Squeezed Stamps as my budget really limits me. *sigh*

Paper Smooches Get Outta Town
I decided to buy Paper Smooches Get Outta Town and Chubby Chum Pals from Loves Rubberstamps as I have a free shipping coupon that I won earlier. Although Loves Rubberstamps price is not so comparative with other online stores, it save me a lot when I get free shipping.
Paper Smooches Chubby Chum Pals

The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) Tropic Topic
Finally, I got The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) Tropic Topic from OhScrap! as they are offering 15% discount! I really wanted this set once I saw it accidentally when I blog hopping some times ago. The major reason I wanted this set so badly is that the snake image because next Lunar zodiac is snake! Thus, this set really make good Chinese New Year cards! I decided to get the Action Wobble™ Springs (of 6 packs) because after calculation, I basically get it for free after the 15% discount while shipping is flat at USD$4. Thus, it is worth it rather than just buying a stamp set with same shipping rate!

I am very excited that four (4) additional new brands stamp and a new tool are shipping its way to me! I really like to try these three (3) brands stamp and hopefully I can make some cute and adorable cards with them!

I Was Winner for MarkerPop Coloring Challenge #12 - Deep Reds

My winning card, Christmas Trees!
My first time entering MarkerPop Coloring Challenge has got me winning! I am really lucky! It really surprised me when I hop over to MarkerPop blog to check and found my card and my nickname as winner!

I do not really expect to win as I use very minimal red in my coloring. When I am submitting for entry, I have a guilt feeling if my card is qualify for the theme since I use very minimal red in my coloring. Eventually, my card not only qualify for the theme but also win!

I am so happy that this time I really win a physical prize which is a Stampavie Stamp. MarkerPop has allowed the winner to choose their own Stampavie stamp from their store. Well, I really excited as I got to try another brand stamp! I have chosen Stampavie Penny Johnson - Kiss me.

Thanks to MarkerPop for the prize!

Christmas Hats!

Christmas Hats!
Finally, I managed to make the second Christmas card for year 2012! Thanks to most of the challenge blogs theme which is on Christmas! Hopefully my inspirations for Christmas will keep on built up so that I can make some more Christmas cards!

Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge #17
I adopt the the simple sketch from Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge #17 (as shown above) since they are having this Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge - A Year in Review Challenge - Any Past Merry Monday Sketch. However, I rotate the sketch clockwise but when I am writing this, I am thinking why not just use the sketch as it is? Well, perhaps that time I just like the circles below the card rather than on the right edge of the card.

AnnaBelle Stamps Blog Challenge Colour AC152
I also adopt the colors from AnnaBelle Stamps Blog Challenge Colour AC152 as shown above. I seldom play color challenge but this time the colors just suitable for Christmas card. Thus, I play along.

Close-up : Christmas hat
The Christmas hat is stamped onto three (3) white circles and colored using Copic markers. Then, faux stitching border is added to the circles. The circles are layered onto some green circles accordingly.

Close-up : Snowflake in watermark effect
A red card stock is stamped randomly with snowflake using watermark ink to create tone-on-tone or watermark effect. It is then attached onto a light blue card base as in sketch.

Close-up : The sentiment
The circles of hats are attached onto the card base as in sketch accordingly. Then, the sentiment is stamped on top of the middle circle.

Dimension : 12.7cm x 19.05cm or 5" x 7.5"
Type : Vertical fold
Inlay : None

Ants Trailing of Thanks

Ants Trailing of Thanks
Made this card for some of my Copic markers buyers who uses Copic markers in their arts.

CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #9
I adopt the the simple sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #9 as shown above. I keep the design simple as the challenge need me to make a card clean and simple (CAS) to be eligible.

Close-up : The ants trails
The ants trails are stamped accordingly as in sketch in black ink. At the end of each ants trails, a single ant is stamped in red ink which take the role of the ants trail's leader. The different length of ants trails really match to the sentiment I have in mind! The different length of ants trails also give an idea of the ants rushing or competing with each other trail!

Close-up : The amended sentiment
The sentiment of 'sending love you way' is used here but the 'love' is masked off. Instead, the 'love' is replaced with 'thanks'. The 'thanks' is purposely stamped in red ink to highlight the purpose of this card.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Horizontal fold
Inlay : None

Christmas Trees!

Christmas Trees!
This is the first Christmas card I made for year 2012! I know it is quite late to start but my inspirations and mood just kicked in.

The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) BE Inspired Challenge #17
I thought I do not want to make any Christmas card this year as my mood for Christmas is not very welcoming. However, when I saw The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) BE Inspired Challenge #17 photo (as shown above), it just prompted me to use their freebie trees to make a Christmas card! The presents in the photo has linked me to think of Christmas tree as usually bunch of presents like this found at the bottom of Christmas tree!

AnnaBelle Stamps Blog Challenge AC151
I adopt the the simple sketch from AnnaBelle Stamps Blog Challenge AC151 as shown above.

Close-up : Christmas trees
The freebie trees are die-cut into circle and colored using Copic markers. It is layered onto a red shimmering scallop circle.

Close-up : Sentiment
As for the sentiment, a yellow card stock is trimmed into a wide strip. The bottom of the strip is punched with some pattern and the sentiment is stamped onto it. It is attached onto a green card base follow by the red scallop circle as in the sketch.

Close-up : Snowflakes
The upper right corner, three (3) punched snowflakes are attached. Each of the snowflakes have gems on the center to give some dimension. Another clean and simple card.

Dimension : 12.7cm x 19.05cm or 5" x 7.5"
Type : Horizontal fold
Inlay : None

Sticky Thumb Sticky Dimensionals
October Afternoon Cakewalk Celebrate Washi Tape
I receive Custom Crops' newsletter on 20 November 2012 that they are having 'Pink Tuesday Sale' where all items are marked 25% off and more than 2000 items marked 50% to 75% off! The sale will only last for 36 hours (until 8PM CST 21 November 2012). Well, it is really interesting and I navigate to the store to take a peek on my favorite brand stamp, Lawn Fawn

Guess what!? Some of the stamp sets really at 50% discount!! It is the cheapest price I ever come across, USD$7.50 for 4x6 set! If I could afford, I really wanted to grab all the stamp sets that are at 50% off as I get to own two (2) stamp sets for the price of normally retailed price stamp set (USD$15 per set). Normally, Custom Crops retail between USD$12.99 and USD$14.99 which already been discounted slightly.

However, my budget is limited and I have to carefully select the items I want. *sigh* I grab two (2) sets of Lawn Fawn's 4x6 sets and a set of 3x4. A little saving there. I wanted to add the cute little Lawn Fawn Winter Owl to the cart but is it back-ordered. Thus, I have it in another single order of it.

With the little saving, I venture to other products and brands. I have to carefully select my items as I want to keep my shipping cost low as well. Heavier items means more shipping cost. Finally I got myself another Sticky Thumb Sticky Dimensionals as it is so cheap than the previous time I bought it. It is only USD$1.00 for variety pack of 442 pieces! The previous time I bought it, it is at USD$2.24 which I already consider very valuable but at USD$1.00? I really cannot resist to get another one even the one I am having still at 95% unused. :P

October Afternoon Cakewalk Celebrate Washi Tape
Another thing I get is the washi tape! My first washi tape! I decided to get this October Afternoon Cakewalk Celebrate Washi Tape as it is at clearance section and cost only USD$0.95! As you know, usually washi tape cost around USD$3 and above. But this is like almost 80% discount! Really cannot resist the offer.

I made my order and payment on 22 November 2012 (that is the advantages of time differences). The shipping notification come in six (6) days after that on 28 November 2012. I guess it is pretty busy and load of orders at Custom Crops. A week later, the goodies arrived in good condition! *grin*

October Afternoon Very Merry: Fill the Stockings - Front
There are few reasons why I always like buying from Custom Crops. First, they always have a reduced price from the MSRP (Manufacture Suggested Retail Price) not even during sale period for most of the products. Second, they still have sale on top of the reduced price which means more savings! Third, they ship fast and items arrived fast as well even during sale period. Fourth, they always have a sample in our order!

October Afternoon Very Merry: Fill the Stockings - Back
This time my sample still the same which is the quarter part sample paper of October Afternoon Very Merry: Fill the Stockings. I begin to wonder why Custom Crops always give out sample on October Afternoon. I hope I can get another brand sample paper in my next order. :P

Pussy Cats Wedding Wishes

Pussy Cats Wedding Wishes
Made this card for a Malay colleague whose is getting married this Saturday. However, as the lunch reception is out of state, I would not be joining. Thus, I made her a card instead.

I always like Lawn Fawn critters set as I can always mirror the critters to make couple which is great for wedding wishes cards. The mirror cat, which is the female cat is stamped on a yellow card stock using Chari Moss' stamp on stamp mirror stamping and trimmed accordingly. The original cat, which is the male cat is stamped on an orange card stock and trimmed. The tree is paper pieced as well using green card stock and kraft card stock for the branch.

Close-up : The scene
On a square white card stock, the tree and cats are stamped accordingly. The sky and grassland are made up using distress ink and technique. Then, the tree and cats are paper pieced accordingly. The sentiment is stamped onto the tree bunches. The cats are added some 'make-up' to define which is male and female whereby some diamond gems are added to the female cat's neck and some pink blushes to the face. A red pearl heart is substituting the 'o' in the sentiment to give some dimension to the card.

Close-up : Hearts border
A cream card stock is trimmed and punched with some hearts border on the left edge. The hearts border will substitute the ribbon as on the sketch. On the right edge, some lines are score to give some textures. It is attached onto a purple card base as in the sketch.
Close-up : The scoring lines

Close-up : The yellow square faux stitching
A yellow square is faux stitched using black marker and attached onto the card as in the sketch follow by the scene made earlier.

After finishing the card, I realized that I only use Lawn Fawn stamps and it suits the Lawn Fawn CHA Winter 2013 Challenge guidelines. Thus, I decided to make another one to enter the challenge. Anyhow, I still put the second card for sale in case I did not get picked.
