Homey Thank You

Homey Thank You
My family are planning to go to Singapore mid next month to visit my my daughter's godmother who is also my childhood best friend as well as some of my in-laws relatives. We will be staying at my cousin-in-law's house. Thus, I make this card for her and her family as a gesture of thanks on their generosity and hospitality.

Sketch Saturday Week #222
This card layout is inspirational from Sketch Saturday Week #222 sketch/challenge as shown above. It has inspire me to create a scene of a house with sun, clouds and flowers. The house is perfect for this card since my family will be staying at my cousin-in-law's house.

Close-up : The sun and clouds
The sun is stamped on an orange card stock and trimmed accordingly. The clouds are stamped on white card stock and trimmed as well. Then, the sun and clouds are arranged on a blue card stock which represent the sky. A blue lining is added to the clouds to make it pop-up from the skyline. A pattern paper from Lawn Fawn Bright Side that resemble grass is used as the house's lawn.

Close-up : Paper pieced house
I use a house image to represent the image location in the sketch. The house is stamped on a white card stock and some pattern papers. The image of the house on the white card stock and pattern papers are trimmed accordingly. Then, I paper pieced onto the house stamped on the white card stock.

Close-up : Glossy window glasses
The windows and door are paper pieced using white card stock and colored using Copic markers. I added some glossy accent to the window glasses. This is my first time using glossy accent since I bought it some times ago.

Close-up : Ribbon that resemble grass and flowers
As for the ribbon ruffle location, I used a ribbon that resemble grass and flowers which is just coordinate the scene. The pre-arranged skyline and lawn is attached onto a yellow card base. The house is attached onto the scene using dimensional foam as the ribbon itself has some dimension to it.

Close-up : The perfect sentiment for my coming situation
The sentiment is stamped on a yellow card stock which has the corners rounded. Some faux stitching are added around the sentiment. It is later layer on a blue card stock which has the corners rounded as well. It is attached onto the card base as in the sketch using dimensional foam.

Dimension : 12.7cm x 19.05cm or 5" x 7.5"

Thank You Gift Tag

Thank You Gift Tag
I come across this 10 Minute Craft Dash #1 from someone blog and find it very challenging as it required us to make a card in 10 minutes! For other card maker experts, it might be easy as they have their own craft room, varieties of supplies and inspirations. But for me, it is a big challenge as sometimes, I took days to finish a card mainly due to time constraints.

Freshly Made Sketches #48
I search for the sketch I want to adopt as I always like to start making a card with a sketch. I find Freshly Made Sketches #48 very easy to adopt as I do want to make something easy. Furthermore, I do not think my 10 minutes can make something complicated. I decided to make a simple thank you gift that can be insert into organza bag or present and easy to mass produce which Freshly Made Sketches #48 is just perfect to do so.

The rules says that I can pull out the supplies before the timer starts. Thus, I prepare my card base, pattern papers and card stock into required sizes. I feel a bit of cheating but after a short consideration, I find it good to go ahead as first, the rules did not mention cannot do like what I did. Second, I imagine how my card would be with the supplies I prepared but things not always turned to be like what I imagine.

I start my timer and work on assembling my card. By the time I finish attaching the sentiment onto the card base, it is already 9 minutes! I quickly grab my sheet of pearls and attach the pearls onto the four (4) corners of sentiment card stock. When I look at my timer, it is 10 minutes 8 seconds! Phew~! That is close!

Lucky Circles!

I won another random choose challenge! This time is the The Paper Shelter Challenge #76 - Going Round and Round with my entry of Mini Square Thank You card. This is the card I made for both Kim Loh and Nur Syifa! I am not sure if Kim Loh is my lucky star as the previous card I made for her, it won a challenge too!

My winning card, Mini Square Thank You
When I decided to make this card using circles, I also have a kind of feeling that it would give me back something. Indeed, it is as I am won a challenge! This is the second time I attempt to use circles only in my card. The first card is the Thank You Round and Round card which I made for my manager earlier. Mini Square Thank You card is a simple card with minimal design but it does give me a great satisfaction when I finish the card. I just loves the simplicity of it.

I never guess I would win and did not check the winning announcement. I come across I won is when I open each of the challenge blogs to check the new challenges. When I come to The Paper Shelter challenge blog, I just found the name 'Message Keeper' so familiar and seconds later, I realize it is actually my nickname! *silly me* Then only I read the whole paragraph that I actually won the Challenge #76 - Going Round and Round.

Thanks to The Paper Shelter for the prize of three (3) digital images.

Mini Square Thank You

Mini Square Thank You
Made this card for both Kim Loh and Nur Syifa, who uses Copic markers in their arts.

Card Positioning Systems (CPS) - CPS 278
The card inspirations are from The Paper Shelter Challenge #76 - Going Round and Round as well as CAS-ual Fridays CFC65 - Square Cards. Close-up : Dotted circle in red and sentiment in the centre
It is very direct and simple card. A white card stock is trimmed into the required square measurement. Then, the dotted circle is stamped onto the white square as shown in the sketch in red ink follow by the sentiment in black ink.

Close-up : Other circles with centre purple gems surrounding the dotted circle
Another design circle stamp is used to stamp the other circles as shown in the sketch using green ink. The white square four (4) edges are cornered before distress using distress ink. The square card is mounted onto a cream card base. Some purple gems are added to the centre of the small circles.

More Copic Ciao

From top to bottom :
BG23 Coral Sea
E33 Sand
R20 Blush
Another three (3) Copic Ciao are added to my Copic markers collection. This time I decided to have BG23 Coral Sea, E33 Sand and R20 Blush.

This time, the color I choose is very direct as it is named. BG23 Coral Sea for coloring some coral sea as found in my Lawn Fawn Critters in the Sea. At first, I did not have this color in my wish list as I wanted B02 Robin's Egg Blue but there is no stock. Thus, I change to BG23 Coral Sea as suggested by my 5.5 years old daughter, Ezel.

As for E33 Sand, it would be suitable for some sand coloring either on land or sea. It can be used for other type of coloring as well as it is in brown hues category.

While for R20 Blush, as it is named, use it for blushing the cheek! Perhaps for some baby girl or girly stuffs coloring too.

Note :
Pre-order for Copic markers are now open. Please refer here on how to order! Thanks!

Flower Thanks So Much!

Flower Thanks So Much!
Made this card for Chris Dayton who is my shipping buddy for my Paper Trey Ink Onesie dies. However, after almost three (3) weeks of waiting, the dies is yet to arrive and I suspect it has lost in transition. :( Nevertheless, I am grateful for Chris' assistance.

Mojo Monday 253

This card layout is inspirational from Mojo Monday 253 sketch/challenge as shown above.

On top of the yellow card base, a 'Thank You' pattern paper from my stash is used as the background. A red ribbon with gold lining is tied to the pattern paper before attaching it to the card base. An ivory card stock is used and green faux stitching are added to it before attach onto the pattern paper. Another embossed red card stock is trimmed square and black faux stitching are added to it before attach onto the ivory card stock.

Close-up : The flower
The flower is stamped on a white circle as well as some pattern papers. The image of the flower on the pattern papers are trimmed accordingly and paper pieced onto the white circle. The edge of the circle is distressed before attaching onto a pink scallop circle. Some yellow gems are added to the pollen of the flower to give some dimension and sparkle.

Close-up : Sentiment
As for the sentiment, it is stamped on a white card stock before trimming the fish tail. It is then distressed as well. Both the sentiment and scallop circle are attached onto the card as in the sketch.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Vertical fold
Inlay : None

A Box of Goodies!

From left to right :
Sticky Thumb Sticky Dimensionals (below)
Lawn Fawn Belinda's Borders
Inkadinkado 97529 Humorous Birthday
Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue
It is a hot summer sale at Custom Crops from 25 July 2012 till 27 July 2012 with all glue and adhesive 25% discount, stamps 20% discount, other items 10% discount and etc. How could I miss all these!? Thus, I decided to grab some goodies!

From left to right :
Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue
I am keen on some foam adhesives as the dimensional foam or pop dots I been using are actually some foam tapes I bought from local stationary stores. Every time I want to use them, I need to use scissors to cut them which resulted my scissors being sticky. Not to mention that the shape of the trimmed foam will lose its shape as it is not that sturdy as it seem to be especially when I need a very tiny pieces. Another issue I face is that the thickness of the foam is not that thick whereby I need to fold the foam tape twice if I really need my layer(s) to pop up. Thus, I seldom make pop up or dimensional projects.
However, I could not resist this time as the hot summer sale at Custom Crops really capture me. I go through all the brands that Custom Crops offers on adhesives as there are various sizes and quantities in each pack with different pricing. Due to its pricing, some brands or adhesive items need to be purchase more than one (1) pack which I a bit reluctant as I would like to sample how good these foam adhesives first. Finally, I settled for Sticky Thumb Sticky Dimensionals that consist of 442 pieces variety of rectangular, squares and circles in big, medium, small and mini sizes in 2mm thickness! Great pack for starter like me at valuable price!

Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue
There is once that Kristina Werner introduce or share some 'must-have' glues for crafters and one (1) of them is this Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. There are other crafters are using this Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue as well when I watch video tutorial. Since the Custom Cropshot summer sale is having all glue and adhesive at 25% discount, I grab my chances to own one of this Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. Afterall, glue can bonds things together and it can be used not on for crafting.

From left to right :
Inkadinkado 97529 Humorous Birthday
Lawn Fawn Belinda's Borders
Bo Bunny SCT187 Camp-A-Lot
As stamps are at 20% discount as well, I definitely have to add some to my cart! I decided to have something out from my wish list as do not know why, I just find them so cute and adorable. Or perhaps I am going through the item-by-item in the stamp category and see which stamp sets catch my eyes. Oh, well! There are of course!
Even I already have some amount of stamp sets that related to birthday, I decided to add this Inkadinkado 97529 Humorous Birthday to my stamp collection as I find it really humorous. Those sentiment really useful in some situation and people especially when you have them inside the card! So meaningful!

Bo Bunny SCT187 Camp-A-Lot
The stamp designs in this Bo Bunny SCT187 Camp-A-Lot are so cute and really can be used in many ways not just in camping situation. The boot print can be used for a nice trail or border while the little map can be used for graduation or promotion with sentiments like, "Follow Your Destination", "You Make Your Way to Your Career Destination" and so on.

Lawn Fawn Belinda's Borders
Lastly, I chosen Lawn Fawn Belinda's Borders over my Lawn Fawn wishlist as this stamp set has inspired me to do something out of norm or they call it stress your stamp to the maximum use. I get the idea from Yainea that these borders can be used to create something else like she did for this card on the gingham!

A box of goodies
My goodies finally are on my hand today and I did not expect it come in a box as most of my items are actually flat items except that Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I think that why Custom Crops use a box instead of a padded envelope. Even that is the case, I am not sure why it is such a big box! My items are actually filled up only half of the box depth! Due to that big box, the postman unable to deliver to me at my house and have me go to the post office to collect instead. I waited for another day to get my items which I been wondering why I need to do so as the notification slip just written 'box'. Once the postman surrender my box at the post office, I really shocked!

October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies - Front
Like previous order, Custom Crops included a quarter part sample paper for me. This time is the same October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies that I got from my previous order. The difference this time is that I get the top part of the quarter. Not bad that I have three of a quarter of the 12x12 October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies pattern paper on my stash! I bet if I order again from Custom Crops next time, I might get the same pattern paper and that give me a piece of 12x12 October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies.
October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies - Back

Hopefully in the next blog post, I am posting cards that use these supplies and stamp sets!

Some Divine Twine

I always adore twine and would like to use them on my cards. However, the price for these twine is so expensive that I just cannot laid my hands on even they are on sale. Perhaps it is because they are consumable supplies as in once I use them on the cards, that is. I mean I cannot re-use them again and again like other consumable supplies such as ink, glue, embossing powder and etc.

Divine Twine
From top to bottom :
Pink, lime, yellow, baby blue, grey and red
I came across a local crafter that sell these twine on their blog some times ago when I first started making cards but I could not remember who it is and unfortunately, I did not bookmark her blog as well. The other day when I e-mail Heaney, I asked her option on washi tapes as it is quite popular nowadays and twine as I really would like to try. I ask her where she got her twine as she always know where to look for sale stuffs.

Like myself,  Heaney also loves washi tapes a lot but finds it so expensive. However, she have not try them on their creation. She also shares a tip that resemble washi tapes which is using some leftover pattern papers and double sided tapes! What a clever idea! I must try that some times.

In her e-mail, she shares that she also eyeing on some baker's twine but let go as it is too expensive. The next thing she mention really interest me as she know that local crafter that sell those twine! She is Shirl which I knew as well and added her to my personal Facebook as friend! Like Chinese proverb saying, "So far yet so near!".

Heaney mentions that she bought the twine sample pack from Shirl a year or two ago but hardly use them on card making except some tags or bookmarks due to its expensiveness. She rather save them to use for her baby's scrapbook layout or mini album. I revert her e-mail and share some washi tapes DIY tutorials and thanks her for the link to Shirl's sale of twine sample pack.

The twine that Shirl is selling is Divine brand. The price that Shirl charge is reasonable and I quickly send her an e-mail to order. Shirl is a bit busy with her triple baby boys as she only managed to revert my e-mail on the payment instruction two (2) days after I send her the e-mail. I made my payment on the same day and revert back to her. Shirl reverts the next day that the package has been delivered and given me the tracking number.

As it is local delivery, the package makes it way to my post box today and what surprised me is that Shirl's mum's house is actually side-by-side areas! Guess the next time I want to purchase more twine from Shirl, I can actually save some postage fees! :P
