Present + Cupcake = Happy Birthday

Present + Cupcake = Happy Birthday
Made this birthday card for my uncle (father's side) whose birthday is on next Thursday.

Sunday Stamps Challenge - SSC56 - It's a Sketch
I adopt the sketch from Sunday Stamps Challenge - SSC56 - It's a Sketch as shown above. The images and colors are inspired from Cupcake Inspirations - Challenge 223 - Birthday as shown below.
Cupcake Inspirations - Challenge 223 - Birthday

Close-up : The present
The present and cupcakes are stamped onto two (2) different white circles. Then, they are colored with Copic markers. The edges of the circle is distressed to tone down the white.
Close-up : The cupcake

Close-up : Sentiment in the cupcake topper
For the middle circle as shown the in sketch, I decided to make something different. Thus, I stamp the sentiment onto a blue card stock and attached it onto a toothpick to make a cupcake topper. It is fishtailed at the other end.

Close-up : Line up of images
On a blue patterned card stock, a yellow ribbon is attached vertically to the left as shown in the sketch. Then, an orange ribbon with yellow ruffles is attached at the bottom horizontally as shown in the sketch.

Close-up : Quicklet
Three (3) blue quicklet are attached to the top right of the card. The card is then attached onto an orange card base.

The card is finished off with a blue gem added to the present's flower and a dark gold heart pearl to the cupcake's topping.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Vertical fold
Inlay : None

Mimi Thank You

Mimi Thank You - Front
Made this card for Airine Hiew, who uses Copic markers in her arts. Really thank her for her huge support on the pre-order.

iSpy Sketches ISSC38
This card layout is inspirational from iSpy Sketches ISSC38 sketch/challenge as shown above. This is the first time I play with iSpy Sketches.

Close-up : Mimi
This time I use my only Penny Black's stamp, Mimi to create this card. Her impression is just nice to show how much I appreciate and thanks Airine for her support. Mimi is stamped on a white circle and colored using Copic markers. Then, the circle edges are distressed with red ink before attaching on a pink scallop circle.

Close-up : The sentiment
As for the background panel, a cream card stock is used. The sentiment is stamped just after the fish tail banner. I purposely cover the sentiment with a circle mask before stamping the zig zag border give the sentiment some focus. The cream background is rounded at the four (4) corners. The fish tail banner is attached on top of the cream background follow by the pink scallop circle of Mimi.

Mimi Thank You - Inside
The whole semi-finish item is attached onto a yellow card base. I finish off the front card with adding a red pearl heart to the Mimi's hair. Inside the card, I random stamp some solid grouped dots to avoid the dullness.

Dimension : 12.7cm x 19.05cm or 5" x 7.5"
Type : Vertical fold
Inlay : None with stamped images

My First Penny Black Stamp!

Penny Black 30-063 Mimi & Miles
Finally I have my first Penny Black stamp!

I actually did not plan to purchase anymore stamps after the recent purchase of Hero Arts CL145 Baby Girl (which is yet to arrive by the time I am writing this post even that stamp was shipped earlier!). Somehow, my husband persuade me to buy another stamps or craft supplies I want.

I always have a habit of buying direct from the manufacturer. Thus, I go to Penny Black website to check out. However, their International shipping fee is very expensive (cost more than the stamp I want to purchase) which I quit the intention to buy direct.

I look for Simon Says Stamp store and the shipping fee is very expensive too but when I look at their eBay Simon Says Stamp store, the shipping fee is reasonable. I been weighing between buying two (2) Hero Arts sparkle clear stamp (2"x3" size with gems) which cost about USD5.99 each or buying another brand stamps. Well, I finally settled to buy another brand stamp since the amount I pay is about the same. So, why not buy another brand stamp that is on my wish list, right?

Thus, I look for the stamp I want which is Penny Black 30-063 Mimi & Miles. The price in eBay Simon Says Stamp store is about the same in Penny Black website but the shipping fee is way cheaper. However, I always look for saving in my money whereby I search for another intensive search in the whole eBay for the cheapest price. Somehow, only eBay Simon Says Stamp store offered the best price inclusive shipping fee.

I made my payment on 29 September 2011 and they confirm my shipment on 30 September 2011. After about a week, finally the Penny Black 30-063 Mimi & Miles arrived on my doorstep! I hope I can get this stamp set inky as soon as possible especially on these few months as there are many couples getting married (due to good months of Chinese lunar calendar).

More Stamps and Thanks to Kathy

A huge thanks to Kathy Racoosin for sending some used stamps which helped me to grow my stamps collection!

I been following Kathy's works for a while now and I really admire how she piece different stamp brand images together to create another scene or event. I am really speechless at her creation. Another thing I adore is how she use the same image and do layering! Her coloring techniques are wonderful especially on using Copic and distressing and not to mention she is kind to offer some tutorials and tips! I am still learning from her through her blog.

I actually stumped on her blog, The Daily Marker last year when she is having her first year blog anniversary. As I am new in card making or crafting society, that was my first time entering into a candy and won some 'consolation' prize. So lucky me and I blogged this winning on this post. Ever since then, I been following Kathy's works and keeping in touch with her through blog comments and e-mails.

There is one time that she even sent me an ATC when I simply just leave her a comment on one of her post that I would like to have one of the ATC she made. I did not really put high hope on it since she have so many comments to read everyday. But then she surprised me by e-mailing me few days later to get my address! She is just so kind! Later in her e-mail, she mentioned that she mistakenly sent me a card with birthday message. I replied her that is it fine as her intuition is somehow very sharp as it is my birthday on the corner! I told her that by the time the ATC mail reached to me, I think it is in time to wish me birthday! Kathy is glad that the mistake was turned out well!

She even still remembers that she promised to send me some used stamps which we been talking about since last year. Anyhow, finally Kathy managed to sort out her stuffs and sent me a delayed Christmas present. Here are the list of what Kathy gave me which included:
