Blackboard Teacher's Day Cards

Blackboard Teacher's Day Cards
I been working for few days on my son's kindergarten Teacher's Day cards as it is weekdays and I need to work. Thus, I only managed an hour or so at night to make the cards while being constantly distracted by my son. But today, I finally finish the cards.

Blackboard Teacher's Day Cards with You're the Best Principal! and You're the Best Helper! sentiment
I decided to make a blackboard cards which uses the chalkboard technique as well the new matching dies that I purchase earlier. First, I trim some black card stocks that will be used for the chalkboard technique. Then, the sentiment is stamped which mainly on 'You're the Best Teacher' while one or two cards in different sentiment to cater for the principal and a helper. Later, the sentiment and the hearts are embossed using white embossing powder. I must says that my chalkboard technique is not at mastery level as some of the sentiments and hearts are not fully covered in embossing powder. I admit the result is not as desire as I hope it would be but I like it as it really reflect the reality of a blackboard art - the perfect imperfection. :)

Blackboard Teacher's Day Cards with Hey, Teacher! You Rule! sentiment
Once that chalkboard technique part is done, I move on to stamp the board and the accessories - duster, chalk, ruler and apple on a white card stock and colored them using Copic markers. Once coloring is done, they are die cut using the matching dies.

Blackboard Teacher's Day Cards with You're the Best Teacher sentiment
When everything is ready, it is time to assemble the blackboard. Once the blackboard is assemble onto the board, I smear some white ink on the blackboard to give it a more realistic look. My son even helped on one or two cards!

The whole blackboard is later attached onto a green card base using dimensional tape and finished by adding the accessories onto the blackboard.

Mini bags and name labels
These are the bags I used to insert these cards into together with the gift. The labels are just great to make both as decoration as well as whose this bag is entitled for. I made the same for both my daughter's Teacher's Day gifts and well as Administrative Professionals Day gifts but I did not photography them.

Rose of You're The Best Art Teacher!

Rose of You're The Best Art Teacher!
The last card is for my daughter's Art teacher who is also the school afternoon session senior principal assistant.

Seize the Sketch #20
For this card, I adopt the simple sketch from Seize the Sketch #20 as shown above. I rotate the sketch clockwise to fit my sentiment.

Close-up : Custom background
Since this card is for an Art teacher, I include more arty stuff like making my own background or pattern paper. A scallop border is used to stamp the pattern on a yellow card stock and colored the scallop gaps using Copic markers. It is then trimmed accordingly and attached onto a white card base.

Close-up : Sentiment
A blue tag is die cut and the sentiment is stamped onto it. It is then attached onto the card as in sketch.

Close-up : Off the edge 3D rose
Again, I create my signature 3D rose. On a white card stock, three (3) roses and two (2) leaves are stamped and colored using Copic markers. Then, the three (3) colored roses are trimmed so that they can be layered upon each to create some dimension using pop dots. Two (2) leaves are tucked behind the rose as decoration. The layered rose is then attached onto the card base on the left of the tag. Since the sentiment has taken a huge space of card, the rose is only able to be attached to the card half and the other half is off the card edge. This is my first time create a card with stamped image off the card edge. I love the outcome!

The card is finished with two (2) red gems to the right and left of the word 'best'.

Chalkboard You're The Best Computer Teacher!

Chalkboard You're The Best Computer Teacher!
The second Teacher's Day card goes to my daughter's Computer teacher who is the only male teacher that teaches her. I opt for traditional chalkboard first, my daughter has a request that she wants a chalkboard on a card and second, it would be funny to give a Computer teacher with something traditional (new versus old)! :P

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 219
For this card, I adopt the simple sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 219 as shown above.

Close-up : Chalkboard and sentiment
The sentiment is stamped onto a black card stock and heat emboss. More 'chalkboard look' is add by smudging some white ink onto it. The whole chalkboard is stamped on a white card stock and the board edges are colored accordingly. The black board is attached onto the chalkboard accordingly.

Two (2) green gingham lookalike pattern paper strips are trimmed and attached onto blue card base as shown in the sketch. Then a negative from a postage frame is trimmed to fit the card base as shown in the sketch. It is attached on the left side of the card base. The chalkboard is attached on top of it.

Dimension : 11.43cm x 8.89 cm or 4.5" x 3.5"
Type : Vertical fold

Stationary Thanks Teacher

Stationary Thanks Teacher
My daughter Teacher's Day celebration is just few days away. Thus, I am in rush for some quick cards! Luckily this year the number of cards are reduced as most of the subjects are teach by her class teacher. I just admire her class teacher so much as she can teach altogether seven (7) subjects - Chinese language, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Physical Education, Morale, Co-curriculum and Music! Some subjects are really need of specialization (e.g. Music) but she can teach as well. Here is my card for her!

CAS(E) This Sketch #75
I adopt the simple sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch #75 as shown above. However, I rotate the sketch to the clockwise direction.

Close-up : Custom background using chalk, duster and ruler
The white stitching journal card is stamped with chalk, duster and ruler randomly to create a custom background. Then, each of the item is colored using Copic markers. The journal card edges are distressed with ink so that the whiteness of the journal card is toned down. It is the attached onto a red 3.5" x 4.5" card base.

Close- up : Sentiment inside the banner with gems
A yellow modified fishtail banner is stamped with sentiment and attached onto the custom background as in the sketch. Three (3) light pink gems are added to the left edge of the banner to add some dimension.

Stationary Thanks Teacher - Inside
As my daughter's class teacher is superb by able to teach altogether seven (7) subjects, I added a sentiment inside to the card as well. The sentiment and the stationary are stamped on a white card stock and colored using Copic markers. It is rounded the four (4) corners before attaching into inside of the card.
