I Was Featured in The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) Creation Blvd Showcase

I used to subscribe or follow The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) blog via e-mail. I was surprised when my Happy Happy Birthday! card is seen on their Creation Blvd Showcase post

The card that featured in Creation Blvd Showcase, Happy Happy Birthday!
I still could not believe it and navigate to their blog just to make sure and voila! There is my Happy Happy Birthday! card lined up on the fourth! I am stunned by this feature as it is not easy to get picked and featured in Creation Blvd Showcase since there are many people submitting their cards. Furthermore, TAWS did not really specify when they will pick their favourite.

I did not expect to get picked as I am using one of the TAWS freebies to make this birthday card for my youngest auntie (mother's side). Thanks TAWS for liking my card!

Although this feature or pick do not won me anything, I am so happy and glad as it is not easy to get picked and featured in Creation Blvd Showcase! Thanks again, TAWS! I will keep showcasing some TAWS love!

Carnival Birthday!

Carnival Birthday!
I was really inspired by Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Carnival Craze as shown below. Thus, I wanted to make a birthday themed carnival card. Since I do not have much carnival stamp, except the digital freebie stamp from The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS), I stretch most of my stash for this card! :P
Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Carnival Craze

Bearly Mine Challenge #100 - Monthly Sketch
I adopt a bit complicated sketch this time from Bearly Mine Challenge #100 - Monthly Sketch as shown above as I would like to incorporate as much 'carnival' items into my card. I turned the sketch in 180 degree to suit my self-made embellishment as explained below.

Close-up : Stamped background panels
For the three (3) background panels, three (3) yellow card stock are trimmed accordingly. Then, the balloon are stamped repeatedly onto the background panels using yellow ink - tone-on-tone technique. I choose balloons as balloons always appear in carnival! The background panels are attached onto a green card base as in sketch.

Close-up : Banners
Well, banners also appear in carnival and I do not feel the atmosphere of carnival if there are no banners hanging above my head! Thus, I made a banner cord with colorful banners on it! It is attached to the center of the background panels as in sketch.

Close-up : Carnival tent
There would not be carnival without the carnival tent! Here, I use the free circus tent from The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS). I colored the tent using bright and cheerful colors of red, yellow and blue of my Copic markers. In fact, this card colors combination are based almost on these three (3) colors. I distress the edge of the circle with blue on the upper part and brown on the lower part to mimic the sky and ground. It is attached onto the card using pop-dots.

Close-up : Balloons as embellishment
Two (2) bigger balloons are stamped on white card stock and colored using Copic markers. They are trimmed accordingly before attached onto the upper right of the card as in sketch using pop-dots. Some yellow-white twine are used for the balloons' string. This is the self-made embellishment informed earlier.

Close-up : Sentiment
Lastly, is the sentiment. It is stamped on an orange card stock and trimmed rectangular. I choose a brighter and sharping color background for the sentiment as I want it to stand out from the card. It is attached onto the card upper left using pop-dots.

Butterfly Graduation

Butterfly Graduation
Made this card for my cousin-in-law whose just graduated recently.

I decided to make an one layer card as inspired by the challenges listed below. Furthermore, I kind of hooked to "block stamping" ever since I tried this technique!

Close-up : "Block stamping" background
On a barley white card, I did a masking of one inch from the side of the card. Then, I block stamping onto the center of the card using yellow ink vertically. Then, I used tea dye distress ink to block stamping again in both vertical and horizontal so that it make a unique background.

Close-up : Sentiment and butterfly
The sentiment is stamped on the bottom of the background block. A silhouette butterfly is stamped above the sentiment on the right. Some pink and blue gems are added to the butterfly wings to make it sparkle and dimensional.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Vertical fold
Inlay : None

Block Stamping and Color Blocking Many Thanks

Block Stamping and Color Blocking Many Thanks
Made this card for my Copic markers buyers who uses Copic markers in their arts.

Sketchbook Saturday - Challenge #103
I adopt the sketch from Sketchbook Saturday - Challenge #103 as shown above. I was inspired by The Friday Mashup Challenge - FM123 - Blocked by Color whereby you are challenged to create a project using "clear block stamping" or "color-blocking" or combine both. I been seeing some projects on "clear block stamping" and "color-blocking" but never really tried before. But for this card, I really want to try both of the techniques as the sketch is just perfect for it! The colors are inspired by CAS-ual Fridays CFC112 - Aqua, Green and Orange.
CAS-ual Fridays CFC112 - Aqua, Green and Orange

Close-up : Different outcomes from one same technique
The green distress ink is inked directly onto the rectangular stamp block and stamped onto the white card stock vertically as in the sketch. The same color is stamped on the bottom of the white card stock. Then, follow by the orange and blue distress inks. Due to the size of the card stock, the blue strips distress ink are overlapped which created another amazing effect! I created three (3) copies of these and each of them is different and unique and I just love the outcomes!

Close-up : Stamped branch with gems
A branch image is stamped at the bottom of the "color-blocking" panel in black ink as in the sketch. It is then attached onto a purple card base.

Close-up : Popped-up banner
The sentiment is stamped onto a yellow die cut banner and popped up using pop-dots. The card is finished off with some white gems added to the branch.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Vertical fold
Inlay : None
