Wish Big Monster Shaker Card

Wish Big Monster Shaker Card
Made this card for my best friend whose birthday is coming next month. But since she is in Singapore, I need to get the present and this card posted early so that it will arrive on time for her birthday.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 299 (MFTWSC299)
For this card, I am adopting MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 299 (MFTWSC299) as shown above and it is just perfect for challenge hosted by CAS-ual Fridays CFC157 - Shaker Card. I must admit that those confetti inside the shaker shape just remind me of party as challenge hosted by Cute Cards Thursday Challenge 444 - Party Time!

Close-up: The shaker circle
First, I die cut a white circle as the shaker base and also to stamp my image on. Then, I die cut a same size circle of acetate. Using a smaller circle die with the circle die I used to die cut the shaker base, I create a frame out of both circle dies so that I will have a rim/ring to build the shaker depth by die cutting from foam. In fact, I die cut two foam rim/ring so that I have the depth I needed. I also die cut a gold rim/ring to be attached at the most top layer of the shaker as decorative rim/ring to cover up every else (mostly ugly things) behind it. By this time, I did wish that I have Lawn Fawn Stitched Frame as die cut the frame by pairing two (2) sizes of circle dies together really do have its challenge.

Close-up: The sentiment and monster
The next thing I do is stamp the monster image and sentiment onto the white circle shaker base and color the monster with Copic markers. After coloring the monster, I give her some uniqueness by adding some mini spots under its horns as well as her webbed feet. With those mini spots, she just look different! More shimmer is added to her body as it is after all a birthday celebration and for me, needs lots of shine. :P
Close-up: Shinning monster (photo taken before the shaker is assemble)

Wish Big Monster Shaker Card - after it was shake
Then, it is time to assemble the shaker together. I use double sided tape as my medium instead of liquid glue as it is more manageable with double sided tape but it took some times as I need to peel shorter length of the tape due to the curvy of circle. I use some glitter confetti and gold steel ball bead nail art decoration as shaker elements.

Close-up: The panel - recycling from another project
As for the panel, I re-use leftover of masked stencil piece from this card. After the masked stencil piece is trimmed to size, it is attached onto a green card base as in sketch follow by the the shaker circle.

Trio Lanterns Shine Brightly

Trio Lanterns Shine Brightly
Finally I could say that this is my Mid-Autumn Festival 2016 last card as I believe I had made enough cards to give away this year.

CAS(E) This Sketch #189
For this card, I am adopting CAS(E) This Sketch #189 as shown above. I made two (2) cards for the same sketch and only rotating my images' colors.

Close-up: Trio lanterns randomized pattern #1
I decided to paper piece the lanterns. Thus, I stamp the lanterns onto some polka dots pattern papers and trim them accordingly. On a red card stock, the lanterns are stamped again with its hanging line. The trimmed lanterns are attached onto the matching lanterns. A purple metallic card stock is circle die cut at the upper part. Then, it is attached onto the red card stock using foam tape so that it is dimensional.
Close-up: Trio lanterns randomized pattern #2

Close-up: Embossed sentiment in gold
The sentiment is stamped onto a vellum strip and gold embossed. It is attached across the purple metallic card stock circle as shown in the sketch. Later, the whole panel is attached onto a yellow card base.

Owl Magnetic Bookmark

Owl Magnetic Bookmark
I just came back from Popular Bookstore's English Books RM5 Fiesta at Viva Home Shopping Mall with my family and my husband's cousin brother who came up from Singapore few days ago. He is so happy that he managed to get hold of some books that he been trying to buy. I decided to make a magnetic bookmark to gift to him as I know he do not have any. Furthermore, he really excited when I can handmade something from stamp sets and dies.

The magnetic book that I made will be similar to this bookmark whereby I will apply Jennifer Mcguire's on-the-edge die cutting technique. I find that the popping out bookmark 'header' really useful as it remind me where I stop reading as well it is cute and lovely.

Close-up: The owl
First, I stamp the owl image on white card stock and color it using Copic markers. It is then die cut using the matching dies.

Close-up: The sentiment
On a yellow strip that is without any folding, the sentiment is stamped first. Then, I measure the half circle where it fits the owl image placement and die cut using Jennifer Mcguire's on-the-edge die cutting technique. Later, the strip is folded just where the upper half circle is cut. The folded bookmark is die cut again as I want to shape the bottom of the folded bookmark.

The result is better that the previous bookmark as there is no fold impression on the bottom half circle. I also added an extra matching layer to the back of the bookmark to make it more sturdy. The owl image is then attached onto the half circle and again an extra matching layer is applied to the back to the owl image to make it more sturdy as well.

Close-up: Shimmer on the owl flying costume and eye mask
For the final touch, some shimmer is applied to the owl flying costume and its eye mask. I also colored the word 'learning' in Copic marker, just to give it a bit of coloring in the sentiment. Finally, magnetic strips are attached to the inside of the bookmark to create a magnetic bookmark.

Shine Brightly with Embossed Gold Lanterns

Shine Brightly with Embossed Gold Lanterns
I am continuing my Mid-Autumn Festival cards today as the date to the festival is just next week. I hope I made enough cards to give away.

TGIF Challenges - TGIFC72 - Sketch
For this card, I am adopting TGIF Challenges - TGIFC72 - Sketch as shown above. The sketch is just perfect for the lanterns placement after I rotate it to the right!

Close-up: Embossed gold sentiment
I started out by stamping the lanterns and heat emboss them in gold. A line is hand drawn to connect the lanterns and heat embossed. The sentiment is stamped and heat emboss in gold as well.

Close-up: Embossed gold lanterns
Then, using distress ink, I colored the lanterns with clear Wink of Stella so that it will have shine on the lanterns that mimic the light glowing from within. In order to mimic the shine rays from the lanterns, a yellow ring is added to the edge of the lanterns using clear Wink of Stella.

Close-up: Shimmer on the lanterns
The background is applied with distress inks and later some water to mimic a night sky.

The scene is then attached onto a blue card base.

Gift from Dearest Husband, All the Way from Singapore - First Avery Elle Stamp!

Gift from dearest husband, all the way from Singapore
Upper row from left to right:

Avery Elle Hats Off stamp set
Lawn Fawn Santa's Belly Lawn Cuts
Lower row:

Apple Pie Memories Acrylic Stamping Blocks
My dearest husband was away to Singapore this weekend to visit his cousin while getting some of his motorcycle gears. Before he went away, he did asks me if I need to get anything from Singapore. Well, since he asked, I ask him to go to Maple Treehouse, one of the craft store in Singapore if he have extra time and gave him the store address. I ask him to get me some acrylic blocks as one of the current one I having have this 'frosty' surface and I cannot see my image clearly when stamping.

Apple Pie Memories Acrylic Stamping Blocks - in packaging
He did have some spare time and Maple Treehouse is actually very near to his cousin house. When he was in Maple Treehouse store, he snapped some photos and sent to me via social chat application. Unfortunately, there are some issues with both my house WiFi and mobile wireless data connection where some of the photos cannot be loaded. It took me a while before both my house WiFi and mobile wireless data connection are operating normally. Then, he video call with me showing all the available items in the store! I was surprised that the shop owner allow him to do that! Anyway, I got the Apple Pie Memories Acrylic Stamping Blocks that have four (4) sizes with great price point, Lawn Fawn Santa's Belly Lawn Cuts and Avery Elle Hats Off stamp set from all the other items he video call to me. I do not dwell more items to buy such as the Lawn Fawn Peek-a-Bat Lawn Cuts or Tim Holtz mini distress ink pads which also have a great price point as the currency exchange is an issue to consider even the shop is having a clearance sale.

I am so happy that I gotten some great bargain and also my very first Avery Elle stamp set! Actually, the Avery Elle Hats Off stamp set was released earlier this year and now I gotten a great price on it. It is just fabulous! My husband called afterward and informs that the shop is actually on moving out clearance sale and most of the items are only have a single quantity or limited quantities. Well, now, I just need to wait for my dearest husband to come back home to get my hands on these goodies!

Apple Pie Memories Acrylic Stamping Blocks - sizes of the acrylic blocks
Finally, I got my hands on these goodies as my dearest husband just came home! He reveals that it was the shop owner that suggested him to video call me to show me all the items in store once she gotten to know that he is from Kuala Lumpur. He says that shop owner told him that customers from Kuala Lumpur usually willing to spend money in her shop compare to other customers or even the locals. He also shares that the shop will be closing down next week and inform him to ask me to go online to purchase. He says that the shop owner is excited when she knows that he is shopping for me and announced it to her staffs! He felt a bit privileges and also weird as only he and his cousin the only male shoppers in the shop.

Lawn Fawn Santa's Belly Lawn Cuts
Anyhow, I am grateful my dearest husband is able to get some great bargain for me when he visiting Singapore this time! I cannot wait to use these goodies especially the Lawn Fawn Santa's Belly Lawn Cuts for some Christmas cards. I believe I can make use of this Lawn Fawn Santa's Belly Lawn Cuts without the Lawn Fawn Pillow Box Lawn Cuts. Well, if really cannot after I try, then I will consider buying Lawn Fawn Pillow Box Lawn Cuts.

Avery Elle Hats Off stamp set
As for Avery Elle Hats Off stamp set, I am thinking to make a congratulations card where the sentiment congratulations is in the center surrounded or framed by the hands that looks want to extend their hands to congratulate. It should be a fun card. I cannot wait to make it happens!
