Made this card for my ex-colleague whose birthday is coming up next week.

This card layout is inspirational from AnnaBelle Stamps Blog Challenge ABSC055 sketch/challenge as shown above. I decided to turn the sketch counter clockwise.

Close-up : The birthday cake

The birthday cake is stamped on a white card stock and colored using Copic markers. The edge of the white card stock is distressed using some green ink before attaching onto a pink corrugated card.

Close- up : The ants trail

A pattern paper that look like confetti is attached on a green card base. A yellow strip where one side of the edge is trimmed in wave finishing is attached onto the pattern paper as per sketch. The cake is attached to the edge of the yellow strip as in sketch. I added some fun to the card by stamping the ants trail onto the left side of the yellow strip looking like the ants are after the birthday cake! I finish off the front card by adding some pearls to the birthday cake.

Simple Happy Birthday - Inside

I decided to continue the fun inside the card. I stamp a turtle with some sentiment onto the center of a white card stock. The turtle is colored using Copic markers before attaching it to the inside of the card.

It is a hot summer sale at Custom Crops from 25 July 2012 till 27 July 2012 with all glue and adhesive 25% discount, stamps 20% discount, other items 10% discount and etc. How could I miss all these!? Thus, I decided to grab some goodies!

I am keen on some foam adhesives as the dimensional foam or pop dots I been using are actually some foam tapes I bought from local stationary stores. Every time I want to use them, I need to use scissors to cut them which resulted my scissors being sticky. Not to mention that the shape of the trimmed foam will lose its shape as it is not that sturdy as it seem to be especially when I need a very tiny pieces. Another issue I face is that the thickness of the foam is not that thick whereby I need to fold the foam tape twice if I really need my layer(s) to pop up. Thus, I seldom make pop up or dimensional projects.

However, I could not resist this time as the hot summer sale at Custom Crops really capture me. I go through all the brands that Custom Crops offers on adhesives as there are various sizes and quantities in each pack with different pricing. Due to its pricing, some brands or adhesive items need to be purchase more than one (1) pack which I a bit reluctant as I would like to sample how good these foam adhesives first. Finally, I settled for Sticky Thumb Sticky Dimensionals that consist of 442 pieces variety of rectangular, squares and circles in big, medium, small and mini sizes in 2mm thickness! Great pack for starter like me at valuable price!

Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue

There is once that Kristina Werner introduce or share some 'must-have' glues for crafters and one (1) of them is this Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. There are other crafters are using this Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue as well when I watch video tutorial. Since the Custom Crops' hot summer sale is having all glue and adhesive at 25% discount, I grab my chances to own one of this Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. Afterall, glue can bonds things together and it can be used not on for crafting.

As stamps are at 20% discount as well, I definitely have to add some to my cart! I decided to have something out from my wish list as do not know why, I just find them so cute and adorable. Or perhaps I am going through the item-by-item in the stamp category and see which stamp sets catch my eyes. Oh, well! There are of course!

Inkadinkado 97529 Humorous Birthday

Even I already have some amount of stamp sets that related to birthday, I decided to add this Inkadinkado 97529 Humorous Birthday to my stamp collection as I find it really humorous. Those sentiment really useful in some situation and people especially when you have them inside the card! So meaningful!

Bo Bunny SCT187 Camp-A-Lot

The stamp designs in this Bo Bunny SCT187 Camp-A-Lot are so cute and really can be used in many ways not just in camping situation. The boot print can be used for a nice trail or border while the little map can be used for graduation or promotion with sentiments like, "Follow Your Destination", "You Make Your Way to Your Career Destination" and so on.

Lastly, I chosen Lawn Fawn Belinda's Borders over my Lawn Fawn wishlist as this stamp set has inspired me to do something out of norm or they call it stress your stamp to the maximum use. I get the idea from Yainea that these borders can be used to create something else like she did for this card on the gingham!

A box of goodies

My goodies finally are on my hand today and I did not expect it come in a box as most of my items are actually flat items except that Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I think that why Custom Crops use a box instead of a padded envelope. Even that is the case, I am not sure why it is such a big box! My items are actually filled up only half of the box depth! Due to that big box, the postman unable to deliver to me at my house and have me go to the post office to collect instead. I waited for another day to get my items which I been wondering why I need to do so as the notification slip just written 'box'. Once the postman surrender my box at the post office, I really shocked!

October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies - Front

Like previous order, Custom Crops included a quarter part sample paper for me. This time is the same October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies that I got from my previous order. The difference this time is that I get the top part of the quarter. Not bad that I have three of a quarter of the 12x12 October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies pattern paper on my stash! I bet if I order again from Custom Crops next time, I might get the same pattern paper and that give me a piece of 12x12 October Afternoon Very Merry: Bake the Cookies.

Many Squares Baby Girl Card

Many Squares Baby Girl card

I decided to make card when I saw Mojo Monday 238 sketch as per below. I just cannot resist not to enter Mojo Monday 238 sketch challenge as it features many squares which I had in my mind that I want to do something like this some times ago. Well, now I got my chance!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge - Mojo Monday 238 

Since I am crazy over baby card for a while now, I decided to make a baby girl using this challenge. Actually, I have another idea on my mind which is more general but I decided to make baby card instead.

Close-up : Top row of squares with images

Three (3) colors cardstock are trimmed into 1.5" x 1.5" squares. Another reason why I decided to participate in this sketch challenge is that it has many squares which can use up some of my leftover stash - great for not wasting up! Then, two (2) corners are rounded to give some design rather just square shape.

Baby stuffs images especially on baby girl, are stamped into the squares. I did not stamp all the squares with images as the scallop circle will later cover it. Thus, I only stamp on the top row three (3) squares and the far right row down four (4) squares with images. Some of the images such as the bib and dress are paper pieced. Then, all those squares are attached onto a pink card base.

The baby girl image is stamped on a white circle cardstock and colored the face and body using Copic markers. The diaper is paper pieced. Flower embellishment is added to the baby hair to symbolize she is a baby girl. The circle is distress with red distress ink before attached onto a pink scallop cardstock.

As for the tag, I like to do something out of the norm. Thus, I use round tab punch as the tag whereby the sentiment "Baby Girl" is stamped onto the purple round tab and folded in half. A hole is punched on the edge of the tab and a silver string is used. I like the tag to be hanged from the scallop circle whereby I used a purple brad to secure the other end of the silver string. Finally, the scallop circle together with the tag are attached onto the pink card base using pop dots.

I made this card for a friend who is recently added a member to her family. It is a baby girl!

Card Positioning Systems (CPS) #249

This card layout is inspirational from Card Positioning Systems (CPS) #249 sketch/challenge as shown above but did not make it on time to enter into the challenge. :(

This card inspiration also comes from Young Crafters Unite (YCU) challenge #5 - Simple and Clean. Thus, I use very simple image as well as materials to make this card.

A pink corrugated strip is layered upon a patterned paper which has been layered on top of a yellow card base.

The baby girl image is then stamped on a square white cardstock and colored using Copic marker. I add some paper piecing to the diaper. A pink and white ribbon is tied to a bow and attached on to the ribbon. Then I distress the edges using opera pink color. It is then attached onto a pink cardstock before attach it to the center of the pink corrugated strip.

To add some personal touch or decoration inside the card, I add a bib on the right upper corner and a dress on the left lower corner.

More Stamps and Thanks to Kathy

A huge thanks to Kathy Racoosin for sending some used stamps which helped me to grow my stamps collection!

I been following Kathy's works for a while now and I really admire how she piece different stamp brand images together to create another scene or event. I am really speechless at her creation. Another thing I adore is how she use the same image and do layering! Her coloring techniques are wonderful especially on using Copic and distressing and not to mention she is kind to offer some tutorials and tips! I am still learning from her through her blog.

I actually stumped on her blog, The Daily Marker last year when she is having her first year blog anniversary. As I am new in card making or crafting society, that was my first time entering into a candy and won some 'consolation' prize. So lucky me and I blogged this winning on this post. Ever since then, I been following Kathy's works and keeping in touch with her through blog comments and e-mails.

There is one time that she even sent me an ATC when I simply just leave her a comment on one of her post that I would like to have one of the ATC she made. I did not really put high hope on it since she have so many comments to read everyday. But then she surprised me by e-mailing me few days later to get my address! She is just so kind! Later in her e-mail, she mentioned that she mistakenly sent me a card with birthday message. I replied her that is it fine as her intuition is somehow very sharp as it is my birthday on the corner! I told her that by the time the ATC mail reached to me, I think it is in time to wish me birthday! Kathy is glad that the mistake was turned out well!

She even still remembers that she promised to send me some used stamps which we been talking about since last year. Anyhow, finally Kathy managed to sort out her stuffs and sent me a delayed Christmas present. Here are the list of what Kathy gave me which included:

Welcome Baby Boy with Pram

Welcome Baby Boy with Pram card - Front

This is a card made for a baby boy full moon (one month old celebration of Chinese tradition).

Sketch Saturday Week #134 sketch

This card is inspirational from Sketch Saturday Week #134 sketch/challenge as shown above but did not manage to enter the challenge in time. 

The pram is self-made by trimming two (2) 1" circle from a blue cardstock. One of the circle is stamped with the checked flag from Hero Arts CL439 Kiss from the Sun using white ink while another is stamped with the dots background from Hero Arts CL266 Mix and Match Elements using brown ink. Then the checked design is further trim to about 3/4 size of the 1" circle to make the base of the pram. The dots background circle is trimmed into quarter to make the pram folding.

The baby head is from INK97650 Inkadinkado Welcome Baby. The crown above the baby head to represent baby boy is from Hero Arts CL272 All Occasion Messages. Both of them are stamped on a white cardstock and colored and trimmed accordingly.

A rectangular yellow cardstock is trimmed and stamped with 'Welcome Baby!' from from INK97650 Inkadinkado Welcome Baby at the four (4) edges of the yellow card to make the 'frame' effect as well as delivering the message. Then, the pram 'parts' are assemble onto the center of the yellow card. The baby head is purposely pop out from the pram. Two (2) silver buttons are attached to the bottom of the checked semi circle to make the pram stroller.

The colorful dots patterned paper from Moof is trimmed rectangular and attached onto the folded cream card. Another faded jeans patterned paper is trimmed triangular and attached on top of the colorful dots patterned paper. A blue ribbon is attached vertically across the patterned paper. Finally, the yellow card is attached on top of patterned paper. Two (2) blue gems are attached on top right corner of the yellow card while another blue gem is attached at the bottom right corner of the colorful dots patterned paper (it is a bit invisible as the patterned paper is also colored dots based).

Welcome Baby Boy Card #1 (Sample)

Welcome Baby Boy card #1 - Front

This card suppose to be a baby shower card but during the day of sending this card, the mother was delivering the baby due to come complication. Luckily this card was stamped with 'Welcome Baby' message which makes it perfect to celebrate the baby into this world as well. This card is themed color of blue. Thus most of the materials used are based on various hues and shades of blue.

Welcome Baby Boy card #1 - 'Pocket' with pull out 'recipe' card 

This is another pocket inspiration card. However, this time, it is a bit different compare to previous pocket card whereby the 'pocket' located outside the card to insert a 'recipe' card. The message writing will be inside the folded card like normal card.

Using a soft light blue card, a message 'frame' is created using words of 'Congratulations' from Hero Arts CL272 All Occasion Messages and 'Welcome Baby!' from INK97650 Inkadinkado Welcome Baby. The 'Congratulations' word was purposely stamped curvy to pair the 'Welcome Baby!' which is originally is curvy. The 'Congratulations' was stamped vertically on the top and bottom of the card while 'Welcome Baby!' was stamped horizontally on the left and right of the card. Blue gems are added in between the messages. Then, the soft light blue card attached onto a light blue folded card.

Close-up : The transparent circle on the 'pocket'

The front of the pocket is made using a blue card. A circle is cut at the bottom of the pocket so that a transparent sheet can be layered behind it to create a see through effect. Before attaching the pocket onto the soft light card, a pink heart is attached on the soft light card coordinating its position with the transparent circle. Then, the pocket is attached onto the soft light blue with a bit angle or degree.

On top of the pocket (above the transparent circle), a white circle with some blue distressed effect of blue is attached. Inside the white circle is a baby from INK97650 Inkadinkado Welcome Baby set. A crown from Hero Arts CL272 All Occasion Messages is added on the baby head to represent boy.

The insert card is a 'Recipe for Motherhood'. A white card is zig zag at four (4) sides. Then, the 'Recipe for Motherhood' is stamped on the top of the card using Hero Arts CL138 Bird Branch Alphabet. At the bottom of the message, the same baby from INK97650 Inkadinkado Welcome Baby set is stamped. The crown on the baby head is from Hero Arts CL272 All Occasion Messages.

When the recipe card is inserted into the pocket, there are two (2) babies appeared on the pocket as shown.

At the back of the recipe card is the recipe which consist of the following in printing. The four (4) sides of the white card are zig zag. 

Ingredients:

1 heart full of love

1 heaping full of understanding

1 heaping sense of humor

2 eyes in the back of your head

3 gallons of generosity

6 1/2 heaping cups of patience

1 barrel of laughter

Methods:

1. Sprinkle with kindness and add plenty of faith and mix well.

2. Occasionally, add a pinch of humility.

3. Heat with sunshine and spread generously over lifetime for a plateful of joy and cup of warm memories.

Horizontal hole is punched on top of the card and a transparent ribbon with blue writing of  'For a Charming Baby Boy' and some images of toys is tied to the hole to make easier to pull out from the pocket.
