Heartfelt Sympathy - Front

My mood to make card seem kicking in very strong these few days. Well, it must be hidden inside me for so long that it want to release now. Thus, I made another card today.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge - Mojo Monday 239

This card layout is inspirational from Mojo Monday 239 sketch/challenge as shown above. I decided to make a square card which is easier for me.

I had an idea to make a sympathy card when I saw Charisma Cardz Challenges - Challenge #16 that themed blue, black and white. These colors are perfect to make a sympathy card. Furthermore, this is my second attempt to make a sympathy card and hope it turn out well.

Close-up : Embossed image and sentiment

I want to try a new technique as well as 'grand opening' for my embossing heat tool which I bought early this year. I stamp both the background image and sentiment onto the black cardstock using VersaMark ink. It is a little slow of me when I sprinkle the white embossing powder onto the ink as some of the ink started to dry. Thus, some areas are lacking embossing powder. When I heat it, the 'magic' appear by giving the image and sentiment some bold look. I punch some design below the sentiment and layer a blue cardstock behind the punched design to make it a bit outstanding.

Close-up : Ribbon and bow

A light blue corrugated strip is trimmed according to card base measurement. A transparent white ribbon with gold lining is used to make the bow around the corrugated strip. It took me a while to tie the bow as I seldom tie bow for card. I never thought it would be hard but turn out well! :P Then, the corrugated strip together with the ribbon is attached onto the card base. The stamped and decorated black cardstock is attached onto the corrugated strip as the sketch.

Heartfelt Sympathy - Inside

As the dark blue card base make it difficult to write message, a light blue paper is layered inside the card. In the middle of the card, lines of sentiments are stamped with some decorative images.

This is my first attempt making a sympathy card. This sympathy card is dedicated to one of my Malay manager and his family whose his father was passed away on Thursday.

Card Patterns Sketch 103

This card layout is inspirational from Card Patterns Sketch 103 sketch/challenge as shown above. From the design team members card inspirations, I decided to make a one layer card. This is my another first attempt as well.

Close-up : Flower in the square and black teardrop gem on the left

Using cream cardstock as the base of the card, flower in the square from Hero Arts CL266 Mix and Match Elements are stamped on the left and right side of the card using Jumbo Java ink. In the middle of the flower in the square images, message "Feel Better Soon" from Hero Arts CL394 Message Bubbles is stamped using Jumbo Java ink as well.

Some may find it weird that message "Feel Better Soon" is used instead of "With Sympathy" and so on. But, I do not feels that message "Feel Better Soon" is meant for those who are sick only. Instead, I feels that people who someone close passed away need to recover from sadness just like sick people recover from illness. Thus, I find it message "Feel Better Soon" is more 'friendliness' compare to "With Sympathy".

The flower in the message bubble is colored using marker with light toned colors (avoiding red and pink). Black teardrop gems is attached at the bottom of the flower in the square images. While two mini black gems are attached inside the message bubble.

Sympathy card - Inside

Inside the card, a white cardstock is used to stamp message "Wishing you strength for today and hope for tomorrow" from Kaiser Craft CS924 Sympathy. Flower from Hero Arts CL266 Mix and Match Elements is stamped at the starting and ending of the message. It is then colored using marker with light toned color (avoiding red and pink).

Kaisercraft Sympathy Clear Stamp

I browsed Craft Haven shop few days ago and saw some new mini clear stamps from Kaisercraft. Most of them are sentiment based clear stamps which I did not put much interest into since I have Hero Arts CL272 All Occasion Messages that can cover almost any occasion.

However, this morning I got to know that one of my Malay manager's father was passed away. Thus, I would like to make a sympathy card for him and his family. The first thing crossed my mind was the Kaisercraft CS924 Sympathy mini clear stamp I saw few days earlier in Craft Haven which is perfect for the card (as well as some excuses for me to purchase a new stamp).

Thus, during lunch break, I head over to Craft Haven and purchase the Kaisercraft CS924 Sympathy mini clear stamp.
